Associate Director, Ecosystem Development (Artificial Intelligence)
Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park Limited (“HSITP”, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation, is engaged in the planning, building, management, operation and maintenance of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation & Technology Park at the Lok Ma Chau Loop (“the Loop”).
With a site area of 87 hectares, the Loop will be a hub for vigorous technology R&D and collaboration among top-notch international R&D institutions, technology enterprises and talent. The Loop will provide necessary infrastructure, facilities and service support for the innovation and technology (I&T) community; with associated higher education, cultural and creative and other complementary facilities.
This position is a key role in HSITP focused on the cluster development of Artificial Intelligence. It is responsible for fostering collaboration and driving the growth of the ecosystem within the HSITP.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive ecosystem development strategy for the AI cluster, aligned with the HSITP's vision and goals
- Lead initiatives to attract and support AI startups, researchers, and industry players to join the HSITP's AI cluster; Identify opportunities for collaboration and synergies among cluster members
- Establish strategic partnerships with AI-focused companies, research institutions, government agencies, and industry associations to leverage resources, expertise, and funding opportunities for the AI cluster
- Organize events, workshops, and networking activities to foster a strong sense of community within the AI cluster, facilitating knowledge sharing, collaboration, and innovation among stakeholders
- Collaborate with functional team for an AI-focused incubation program, providing tailored support, mentorship, and resources to AI startups; Coordinate program logistics, curriculum design, and mentorship matching
- Collaborate with academic institutions and training providers to develop AI talent pipelines; Facilitate internships, co-op programs, and training initiatives to enhance the skills and capabilities of AI professionals within the HSITP
- Identify funding opportunities, grants, and investment sources specifically tailored for AI startups; Assist startups in securing funding and developing investment strategies through connections with venture capitalists, angel investors, and funding agencies
- Position the HSITP as a thought leader in AI by organizing conferences, seminars, and thought leadership events; Represent the HSITP in AI-related conferences and industry forums
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business administration, or a related field. A master's degree or higher in AI or a related field is preferred.
- At least 12 years of post-qualification experience in ecosystem development, technology innovation, AI startups, or related fields; Prior experience in AI cluster development or managing AI-focused programs is highly desirable
- Profound knowledge of artificial intelligence technologies, trends, and applications. Familiarity with machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and other AI domains
- Strong business and commercial understanding to identify market opportunities, develop business models, and support AI startups in their commercialization efforts
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, as well as collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Flexible and adaptable to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Excellent command of verbal & written English and Chinese (both Cantonese & Mandarin)
