Associate Director, Supercomputing Center (Technical & Product)
Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park Limited (“HSITP”, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation, is engaged in the planning, building, management, operation and maintenance of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation & Technology Park at the Lok Ma Chau Loop (“the Loop”).
With a site area of 87 hectares, the Loop will be a hub for vigorous technology R&D and collaboration among top-notch international R&D institutions, technology enterprises and talent. The Loop will provide necessary infrastructure, facilities and service support for the innovation and technology (I&T) community; with associated higher education, cultural and creative and other complementary facilities.
Job Purpose
The Associate Director, Supercomputing Center (Technical & Product) is a key executive responsible for the strategy, operational excellence, safety, reliability, and financial performance. This role oversees all technical and operational functions including critical infrastructure management, 24/7 operations, construction & capital projects, sustainability, compliance, vendor governance, and team leadership. The ideal candidate is a seasoned data center leader with deep expertise in hyperscale or enterprise data center design, operations, and P&L accountability.
Responsibilities:
- Formulate 3-5 year data/ supercomputing center & intelligent computing capacity roadmap aligned with HSITP’s priorities and balance build-to-suit colocation
- Full ownership of data center department’s P&L: annual OpEx, multi-year CapEx budgeting, ROI tracking, rack capacity and revenue forecasting, cost optimization and profitability targets for cross-border facilities
- Optimize asset portfolio and oversee full lifecycle delivery of new data center builds, expansions, retrofits and AI computing zones across architecture, MEP and construction vendors
- Handle Hong Kong BD statutory approvals, logistics for heavy power/cooling equipment, and cross-site safety alignment
- Lead acceptance testing, cutover and migration of tenant workloads, minimizing disruption to R&D and AI training operations
- Standardize SOPs, maintenance cycles and asset management across HK and Shenzhen sites; deploy unified DCIM automation for real-time cross-campus monitoring
- Drive HSITP’s data center ESG targets: optimize PUE to industry-leading levels, deploy renewable energy integration, implement water recycling and low-carbon cooling solutions for high-density AI racks
- Cross team collaboration to design customized colocation, data rack leasing and private AI pod solutions for such as global R&D institutions, biotech startups, cloud vendors and industrial enterprises
- Build long-term partnerships with key stakeholders not limited to Government departments, Shenzhen Park, power utilities, submarine cable operators, telecom carriers, construction contractors and certification bodies
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline; MBA or MSc in Infrastructure Management is preferred
- Minimum 10 years progressive data/ supercomputing center critical infrastructure leadership experience, with at least 5 years at senior level managing multi-site hyperscale or large campus IDC facilities
- Prior experience in managing AI / HPC / supercomputing data center
- Experience with FM200 fire suppression, high-density liquid cooling and renewable energy for data center is preferred
- Professional certifications such as Holder of Registered Electrical Worker license Grade H, Registered Safety Officer, and Uptime Institute ATD or equivalent cross-border data compliance credentials are highly preferred
- Strong business ownership mindset, agile & adaptable
- Excellent influencing skills, problem solving and communication skills
- Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua)
- Candidate with less experience will be considered as Senior Manager, Supercomputing Center
- Frequent Travel or Permanent Work in Lok Ma Chau Office is required (Shuttle bus service & MTR concession scheme is available)
